Ingredients
Apples 3-4 medium
Refined flour (maida) 2 cups + for dusting
Butter softened 3/4 cup + for greasing
Castor sugar 1/2 cup
Baking powder 2 teaspoons
Baking soda 1 teaspoon
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Cornstarch 1/2 cup
Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon
Condensed milk 300 millilitres
Apple juice 1 cup


Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 180º C. Grease a cake tin with some butter and dust with some flour.Step 2
Core apples, cut into wedges and slice. Arrange the apple slices on the base of the cake tin in layers. Sprinkle 2 tbsps castor sugar on top and set aside.Step 3
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cornstarch into a bowl and mix well.Step 4
Add remaining castor sugar, vanilla essence, condensed milk and butter and mix well.Step 5
Add apple juice and mix to a smooth batter.Step 6
Pour batter over the apple slices in the cake tin, spread and tap a little. Place the tin in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes.Step 7
Remove the tin from oven and cool down to room temperature. Place the tin upside down over a serving plate and slowly lift the tin to loosen the cake from the tin. Serve.
